How to support our bid
Team Tyne Innovation are completing the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge with the aim of marketing the North East, its businesses and universities as well as supporting a number of local charities. The goal is to raise £100,000 for our charities, however, we are also faced with costs of around £100,000 just to get to the start line. The boat, on-board equipment, on and off shore support, insurance (life and boat), race entry fees, etc. all cost money and, without these, our goal just isn’t possible. This is why many teams drop out before reaching the start line.
Putting it simply we are relying on funds received from our Gold, Silver and Bronze partners and our 250 Club members as well as donations to help foot the bill and ensure we reach our charitable goal. For our part, each team member will be taking up to three months out of their working lives to complete the race and the team will be donating £1,000 to each of the supported charities. The good news is that a lot of the costs incurred on the boat and equipment should be recouped on re-sale once the race is over. Funds raised in excess of the cost to complete the challenge will be donated across the supported charities.
